President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the key tools for monitoring the ceasefire will be satellites, joint intelligence with the U.S., and drones.
As reported by a Ukrinform correspondent, the President made this statement during a meeting with journalists.
“Tracking violations is possible, in my opinion, by implementing the following steps: the first step is satellites, and the second step is joint U.S.-Ukrainian intelligence,” Zelensky explained.
According to him, reconnaissance drones will also be used for monitoring.
“If the U.S. receives the full scope of information from both the Ukrainian and Russian sides, I believe everything can be controlled today,” the President noted.
Zelensky believes that the risk of a new invasion can be prevented by deploying a “contingent as an additional force stationed at strategic points in Ukraine — on water, in the air, and elsewhere.”
“Air defense protection must be ensured 100% during the ceasefire,” Zelensky emphasized.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, on Tuesday, a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The parties issued a joint statement following the talks.
As a result, the Ukrainian delegation supported the U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire along the entire front line, which can be extended by mutual agreement, provided that Russia accepts and simultaneously complies with the terms.
Following the negotiations, the U.S. announced the resumption of assistance to Ukraine and intelligence sharing.
Immediately after the meeting in Saudi Arabia, the Ukrainian side began working on action algorithms to properly monitor compliance with the potential ceasefire and on modalities for future peace agreements.
