Ukraine confirms attacks on two Russian refineries



The Unmanned Systems Forces, operating jointly with other elements of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, hit two Russian strategic facilities, the Ryazan and Novokuibyshevsk refineries.

That’s according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, whose press service confirmed media reports that appeared earlier, Ukrinform saw.

The oil refinery in Russia’s Ryazan region was hit overnight Sunday, March 9. Explosions were recorded in the area.

As per the General Staff, the Ryazan refinery has been supplying fuel to the Russian army. The enterprise produced an average of 840,000 tons of the highest grade fuel for jet engines. In sorties against Ukraine,  Russian warplanes actively use TS-1 kerosene, produced at the said site.

Also, Ukraine hit the production facilities of the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Samara region in the early hours of Monday, March 10. According to the General Staff, the facility transmits fuel via a pipeline network and by rail to sustain Russia’s military grouping in the northern operational zone.

Ukraine’s military is working to verify the details of the fallout from both strikes.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, intelligence sources said Ukrainian drones overnight Monday attacked the Novokuibyshevsk refinery, which provides jet fuel for supersonic Su-27s, Tu-22MZs, and other warplanes.
