Ukraine believes full-scale war can be over before year-end

Ukraine seeks an unconditional ceasefire and believes it is possible to end the full-scale war, unleashed by Russia, as early as this year.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who spoke on the air of Firstpost, Ukrinform reports.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy has said Ukraine seeks an unconditional ceasefire, but is ready to resist if Russia chooses not to accept the U.S. proposal for a temporary ceasefire.

He added that the Ukrainian side believes in the possibility of ending the full-scale war within 2025 and is awaiting Russia’s response on accepting the unconditional ceasefire.

“We believe the war will end this year — we really want the war to end this year. All of us are united by this strategic goal to achieve just, comprehensive, and long-lasting peace. Ukraine supports the US proposal for a ceasefire — temporary ceasefire. We are expecting the Russian response to accept the unconditional ceasefire. It will be a huge step forward to make this peace closer,” the top diplomat stressed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to speak with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over the phone on Tuesday, March 18, to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.
