Total Russian troop losses in the Kursk region have now surpassed 48,000, with approximately 20,000 killed in action, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.
He announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
During a working visit to the Sumy region, Syrskyi awarded Ukrainian defenders with honorary distinctions. These troops have been securing the northern frontline, repelling Russian assaults in the Kursk region, and conducting successful offensive operations.
Among the awardees were paratroopers and ground forces personnel.
“Thanks to these warriors, our northern front remains strong. Even six months into the Kursk offensive operation, Ukraine continues to maintain control over hundreds of square kilometers of the aggressor state’s territory, while the enemy keeps suffering heavy losses in manpower and equipment,” Syrskyi said.
