Compared to 2023, Russian Shahed UAVs have significantly fewer non-Chinese components.
This was announced on Facebook by the Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Ukrinform reports.
“Shahed 2023: 38 US components, 11 China, 5 Switzerland, 60+ foreign components in total. Shahed 2025: 38 US (but other, lesser-known manufacturers), 29 China, 19 Switzerland, 100+ foreign components in total. “Switzerland” means made in China. “Russia” (13 items) is also mostly made in China. So, in general, there is a positive trend – there are fewer non-Chinese components and fewer high-quality components. There is also a negative,” Vlasiuk said.
As reported, on April 7, the DIU informed that Russia uses more and more Chinese components in its Shahed drones to protect against electronic warfare instead of American ones. In particular, only two American-made chips were found in the new CRP antennas for the Geranium-2 drone. This indicates Russia’s attempts to reduce its dependence on components from countries that have imposed sanctions against it.
