Police show how Russians recruit Ukrainian teens for terror attacks

Police have shown how Russian intelligence operatives recruit Ukrainian youngsters to engage them in acts of terror and sabotage.

This was reported on Facebook by the First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department, Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, who posted screenshots of electronic correspondence between an Odesa schoolboy and a Russian recruiter.

“Constantly raising awareness among students of the dangers that can lurk on the internet is yielding results. Recently, a 9th grader reached out to an inspector from the Educational Security Service in Odesa. He said some people had contacted him on a Telegram channel, offering ‘some extra money’. The task was to set fire to military draft office vehicles and administrative buildings, also leaving graffiti on them, all for a monetary reward,” Biloshytskyi noted.

According to the official, at first operatives lure children with simple tasks, such as taking a picture of a certain facility or putting graffiti on a wall. If the target complies, they try to involve them in more serious subversive action – through blackmail or promises of easy money.

“In this case, everything worked well for us: the schoolboy saved the correspondence on his phone and handed it over to the inspector from the Educational Security Service. The relevant agencies have already been informed and are probing the case. Friends, remain vigilant and explain to children the risks such ‘offers’ conceal. Do not remain silent,” Biloshytskyi urged.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a boy and a girl, aged 18 and 19, who, at the request of the Russians, were plotting to set off an improvised explosive device outside a military unit in Zaporizhzhia on March 25.
