MIA reports 57 people possibly taken captive in past week



Over the past week, employees of the Department for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, using specialized software, obtained information about the possible captivity of 57 people.

The Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances Artur Dobroserdov informed about this in Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“Such information is obtained through constant monitoring of information from Telegram channels, videos published on YouTube, TikTok and websites. Among the persons identified in captivity, in particular: 39 – AFU servicemen; 4 – NGU servicemen; 3 – BGSU servicemen; 11 – civilians (including 2 minors),” Dobroserdov wrote.

He noted that out of this number of people, 3 have been wanted since 2022; 10 have been wanted since 2023; 19 have been wanted since 2024; 25 have gone missing this year.

According to Dobroserdov, the importance of the information obtained is that at present, the status of captivity has not been confirmed by the Russian Federation through the Central Tracing Agency of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC Central Tracing Agency) in respect of any of these persons.

The Ombudsman informed that the relevant information had been transferred to the: The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center for the Search and Release of Prisoners of War at the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Information Bureau, and the National Police of Ukraine.

As reported, Dobroserdov said that it is now important to establish as many places as possible, such as mass graves or secret burials that are not documented or hidden by the Russians, in the temporarily occupied territories to ensure that the memory of the victims is honored, their names are returned, and families are helped to find their loved ones.
