U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for stating that ending the war with Russia will take a long time.
The U.S. leader wrote about this on his Truth Social page on Monday, according to Ukrinform.
“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelensky, and America will not put up with it for much longer!” Trump emphasized.
Trump claimed that Zelensky does not want peace as long as he has America’s backing.
“And Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelensky, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?” Trump wrote.
Trump also linked to an Associated Press (AP) report quoting Zelensky’s statement that ending the war between Ukraine and Russia is “very, very far away.” Zelensky also emphasized his reliance on U.S. support.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that he wants “Ukraine’s position to be heard” and for partners to “remember who the aggressor in this war is.” He also stressed that any peace agreement must be fair, just, and stable, and that security guarantees should be “very concrete.”
