The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministry of Defense and the Government Security Center, will draft and by the end of the year provide every family in the country a list of recommendations for survival amid crisis.
As noted by RMF24, the guide will contain information on survival in conditions of a prolonged absence of basic necessities, including electricity, as well as items that should be stocked up for possible evacuation, Ukrinform reports.
“The guide will be completed in April, and as part of the Population Protection and Civil Defense Program in the second half of the year, its printed version will be delivered to every household in Poland,” the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The guide will contain information on how to survive for 72 hours in a crisis situation, what food supplies need to be stockpiled, and how to survive for several days amid power outages. It will also tell civilians how to prevent a fire at home, how to provide first aid, and how to take care of pets in crisis.
In order to prepare the guide, Polish experts analyzed similar versions published in 23 countries, including Sweden and Norway.
The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that this applies not only to a war-related contingencies, but also to natural disasters.
The guide will be printed in Polish and in the languages of national minorities living in Poland, including Ukrainian.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, recently stated that Poland should amass a half-million-strong army, including reservists, in order to adequately respond to possible war threats. By the end of the year, the government will have rolled out a reservist training program that will involve training the entire male population.
