Russian propaganda fabricating “Russian Bucha” in Kursk region – CCD

Russian propaganda is once again spreading disinformation about alleged civilian killings in Ruskoye Porychne, a village in Kursk region.

The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Russian propaganda is once again spreading disinformation about alleged civilian killings in the village of Ruskoye Porychne in Kursk region. As ‘evidence,’ Russian propagandists are circulating a video showing the bodies of several deceased individuals. However, the footage contains no real proof — it does not allow for the identification of the number of bodies, the location of the incident, the identities of the deceased, or the causes and circumstances of their deaths,” the CCD stated.

The CCD emphasized that such fabrications are part of a large-scale and prolonged disinformation campaign about the so-called “atrocities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk region.” Through these narratives, Russian propaganda aims to portray Ruskoye Porychne as a “Russian Bucha” and to maintain a high level of hatred towards Ukrainians within Russian society.

Another goal of this campaign is to divert attention from the crimes committed by Russian forces against Ukraine’s civilian population. “Unlike the fake narratives spread by Russian propaganda, evidence of Russia’s war crimes has been documented by international organizations,” the CCD noted.
