The European Commission intends to lay out a European rearmament plan before EU member states tomorrow.
This was stated today in Brussels during a press briefing by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Ukrinform reports.
“I am intensively preparing the European Council, together with President (of the European Council – ed.) Costa. Tomorrow I will inform the member states through a letter about the Rearm Europe plan. We need a massive surge in defense spending without any question. We want lasting peace, but lasting peace can only be built on strength. And strength begins with strengthening ourselves. That is the purpose of the plan that I will present to member states tomorrow,” said Ursula von der Leyen.
As reported earloer, a meeting of the Special European Council will be held in Brussels on March 6, where the heads of state and government of the EU member states will focus on two main issues, including continuing military assistance to Ukraine and strengthening Europe’s defense capabilities.
