Five Ukrainian servicemen who had undergone treatment, including amputation, following war injuries, climbed Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro.
That’s according to the National Guard’s Omega Special Purpose Center, Ukrinform reports.
“Five Ukrainian servicemen, after suffering injuries and undergoing amputations, climbed Africa’s highest mountain. Among them are Mykhailo Matviyev, a fighter from a separate detachment of the Omega Special Purpose Center, and Oleksandr Mikhov, who had long fought as part of the Omega,” the report says.
The Omega press service stressed that “this is not just a climb, it is beyond the limits of the possible. We are proud of our soldiers. In any life circumstances, they continue to confront their challenges and tackle them.”
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukrainian veteran Stepan Korobkin, 25, conquered Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, after having his right arm amputated.
