The Center for Countering Disinformation of Ukraine confirmed that on the night of February 17, the Ilsky oil refinery was attacked and the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station in Russia’s Krasnodar region was put out of operation.
Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“The Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, one of the key refineries in southern Russia, was attacked. Its capacity is about 6.6 million tonnes of oil per year,” he wrote.
The refinery is a major producer of fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, gas oil, and other petroleum products, making it a vital asset for the Russian army. Its strategic importance lies in its ability to supply fuel for military equipment, especially in the southern region and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
In addition, Kovalenko stated that the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station in the Krasnodar region, which is the largest in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, was also put out of operation. This station provides the main oil exports from Kazakhstan.
As Ukrinform reported, on the night of Monday, February 17, drones attacked an oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region.
